This problem came to the fore around 9.00 pm on Monday night. After this people immediately started giving reactions on Twitter. Users could not use these three platforms for about six hours. However, at 4.15 am on Tuesday, Facebook tweeted and informed about the restoration of services. Along with this, the company also apologized for the inconvenience caused to the users. When this problem of outage arose, people were neither able to send messages nor were they getting any messages.

What happened in Facebook’s server The problem

Facebook Facebook has attributed the outage to a change in router configuration that coordinates network communication between its data centers. Facebook’s vice president of infrastructure, Santosh Janardhan, said in a post that this disruption in network traffic had a massive impact on the way our data centers communicate, bringing our services to a halt. At the same time, according to many technical experts, the downing of Facebook was a technical mistake. He didn’t rule out the possibility of playing an inside man.

The domain name system (DNS) was showing an error on Facebook’s webpage. Web addresses through DNS provide their users access to their search material. Meaning takes the facebook.com domain to its original Internet Protocol address. According to a report, a glitch in the DNS record can also be a possible reason.

Facebook shares fell after an outage

The problems that people faced due to server down, but due to this blockade, Facebook got a big setback in the form of financial loss. The company issued an internal memo and stated that the server down was a high risk to the public, moderate risk to the assets, and a high risk to the reputation of the company. Facebook said that the company’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s assets fell more than $ 6 billion in one day, while Facebook has an estimated loss of more than $ 80 million in its revenue. At the same time, according to the estimates of the Internet Global Observatory ‘Netblocks’, the economy of the whole world suffered a loss of more than $ 130 million every hour due to this outage.

Not working on both web and smartphone

WhatsApp and Instagram were not working on both web and smartphone. This problem was occurring on all Android, iOS, and web platforms. People were neither getting new messages nor were they able to send messages to anyone. Similarly, on Facebook and Instagram, the message ‘Cannot refresh’ was appearing on newsfeed refresh.

On DownDetector, people complained about the non-working of WhatsApp. Users also complained about Instagram and Facebook. Users were facing difficulties due to not being able to send messages. According to downdetector.com, Android and iOS users have experienced this problem and about 50,000 people have filed complaints about the server being down.

 

Facebook issued a statement and apologized

After Facebook and Instagram were shut down for more than 6 hours and WhatsApp was restarted for more than 7 hours, Facebook issued a statement apologizing to the people for the damage caused to them and their business.
